Worship Ministry

What is Worship?

The Lord is worthy of worship, as the one true and living God. We were made to worship Him. Worship can be defined as our response to who God is and what He has done, both as our Creator and Redeemer. According to Romans 12:1-2, our spiritual act of worship as believers is to offer our very bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. All of life is an opportunity for us to worship God. The breath in our lungs and the hearts beating in our chests means we are alive and able to respond to our Creator.

Our worship as a church is a time where we gather to remember God’s faithfulness and declare that He has bought us with the blood of Jesus Christ. We have been redeemed from the bondage of our sins and are free to worship Him. We do so through singing, praying, giving, preaching, and celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Style

Our music ministry is committed to God-focused worship. The songs we sing as a congregation are saturated with the good news of Jesus Christ, and we aim to exalt the name of our Lord.

Sunday worship gatherings are faithfully led by our band/orchestra, singers,  and worship choir committed to exalting the name of Jesus.

Both ancient and modern songs are utilized in the celebration of our great God. Our worship leaders encourage strong congregational participation and authentic response to the Lord.

You can listen to some of the songs we use on Sunday mornings here!

Preschool - 5th Grade Kids Choirs

Kids Choir

Our KidsChoir is a fun way to get children excited about worship. All kids, Preschool-5th grade, are welcome. Our children gather on Wednesdays at 5:45pm for rehearsals and have special opportunities to sing in the Spring, and also participate in the Christmas presentation. KidsChoir is directed and supported by a group of dedicated adults who love children and love making music for the Lord!

Student Choir

Nexus Choir

Youth Choir has been a priority of West Jackson for many years. NEXUS is a Wednesday night ministry, specifically for 6th-12th grade students (5:30pm-6:15pm). The end goal here is simply to encourage our students to worship with freedom and joy!  This is a unique opportunity for our younger students to gather for their own ministry, meeting in the student ministry area (first room on the left across from college- E202).  The word NEXUS simply means “a connection or bond linking two or more things.” In our worship ministry, this is a final stage of age-graded choirs, and ultimately a transition for Sunday worship leadership, which they can continue into adulthood.

Adult Choir and Worship Team

Adult Choir and Worship Team

Our ministry has a long legacy of faithful worship leadership. The Worship Choir meets in our upstairs rehearsal room every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  All adults (college and older) are welcome to join us! We also have front-line, vocal team singers that rotate and help lead each Sunday.

Musicians

Musicians

There are many talented musicians within our church family. We welcome the use of these instrumental gifts in corporate worship. Sunday mornings are a special way for musicians to serve the congregation. Anyone interested may contact our worship office to schedule a brief interview and audition.

Tech Team

Tech Team

Our gifted tech team serves a crucial role in worship. This includes volunteers who serve by running slides, mixing sound, operating cameras/lights, and controlling our livestream. We would love for you to serve in any of these areas if you are interested.
