Sundays in December: Christmas Together
This Sunday will be our third week of celebrating Christmas Together. This Sunday, December 18, you won’t want to miss Sunday morning worship at 10:30am as Pastor Andy continues to preach from Philippians 2. We will also have our annual Family Lord’s Supper. Bring your family for a special time of prayer and communion between 6-7pm in the worship center.
Please keep in mind that we will not have 9:00am Bible Study on December 25th or January 1st. On those days we will have Fellowship in the Foyer at 10:00am and Combined Worship at 10:30am.
Update on “Giving Together” This Christmas Season
Here are a few updates from all that’s been happening this month:
- So far, we have collected over $46,000 toward our $55,000 goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering! All of these funds will go to support international missionaries through the IMB. If you didn’t have a chance to give this Sunday, please prayerfully consider how you and your family can financially support IMB missionaries as they work to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
- This past Monday night, we had a great time at our annual Hartland Christmas Party. This year we welcomed 182 Hartland children and youth onto our campus, with 43 family members joining us as well. Thank you to our 79 amazing volunteers as well, and those church members who gave food bags so that each child could take one home.
- Several weeks ago we were able to send out 525 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! Please continue to pray for those children who will be receiving these boxes all over the world in the next few weeks.
- Finally, we have also been able to complete our giving list to the DREAM Center through the generosity of church members. An Amazon.com wish list was created for everything they would need and our members responded by completing the list. Thank you, church!
Random Acts of Christmas
We want to continue to encourage all of our members to be creative and perform Random Acts of Christmas – cards are still available in the Connection Center if you need one! And if you love Christmas jokes, you won’t want to miss this week’s “Random Acts of Christmas” video in our mobile app (in the Resources tab).
All Star Basketball Begins This Week
We are excited to announce that All Star Basketball practices have begun this week, and this year we have more than 400 children from our church and the Jackson area involved! Our coaches (43 of them) will be leading these children each week in practice, developing relationships, and bringing the Gospel to them through devotionals. Please be praying for this season and the outreach that will happen through All Star Basketball.
“Christ Has Come” & Celebrating Ricky and Sandra Clark
This past Sunday night was our annual Christmas Concert with Choir & Orchestra: “Christ Has Come.” We enjoyed a great crowd and wonderful concert in the Worship Center as the West Jackson adult choir & orchestra were joined by First Baptist Humboldt’s choir & orchestra to bring us a special night of worship through music.
After the concert, a special reception was held for Ricky and Sandra Clark as they prepare to move to Bowling Green, Kentucky in view of a call. If you haven’t had a chance to show your appreciation to the Clarks, feel free to reach out to them over the next few weeks as they prepare to move.
