New Bible Studies Begin Wednesday February 1st!

Bible Studies for men and women will begin on February 1st, and here is a list of the studies happening over the next few months:

  • Men’s Bible Study: Unfolded. Facilitated by Wayne Moody will be in Room A-121. In this DVD-driven study, Eric Geiger lays out God’s powerful story of redemption. Join these men as we explore the story of a God who loves us, wants to be known by us, and ultimately invites us into His story of grace and redemption. Though there are many heroes in the Old and New Testaments, you’ll discover the one true Hero of our faith: Jesus Christ. [Book: $13]
  • Women’s Bible Study: Uninvited. Facilitated by Amy Matthis for women of all ages, this book study will meet in in Room A-113. In this six-session video Bible study, bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst helps women to explore the roots of rejection; the view we believe as a result; and the truth about who God is, who we are, and what it looks like to live loved. [Book: $10 | Study Guide: $13]
  • Women’s Bible Study: The Power of a Praying Wife. Facilitated by Corrie Maxwell, this book study for for wives of all ages will be in Room E-111 (located in the Preschool Place). Don’t Forget! January 29th FOCUS 2017 Conference @ 9:00am

Finally, keep in mind that in two Sundays on January 29th, we will come together for worship beginning at 9:00am. There will be no Sunday School that morning as we host our annual FOCUS 2017 conference. Childcare will be provided for infants through pre-K during the morning.

FOCUS is our annual Sunday conference zooming in on a specific area of discipleship and will happen on Sunday January 29th at 9:00a. This year we are welcoming Greg Koukl, the founder of Stand to Reason, a ministry that equips Christians to explain and defend Christian beliefs and values to people who are skeptical. On Sunday morning he will give us tools to engage others in Gospel conversations. That evening he will spend time answering questions that appear to challenge the Christian faith. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!

Coffee and Conversations: Telling The Baptist Back Story

Where you are from matters – it gives insight to who you are and why you do what you do. Join us this Sunday night for part two of Coffee and Conversations in the Fellowship Hall as we discover who we are as Baptists. Dr. Nathan Finn, dean of the School of Theology and Missions at Union University, will continue to lead the conversation for us. He is most recently the co-author of The Baptist Story: From English Sect to Global Movement. We will start at 6pm and have coffee and cookies from DO Dah’s ready for you. Childcare will be provided.

Women’s Retreat: “Happy New Year In Christ” (January 27-28)

We want to invite all women at West Jackson to join us for our annual Women’s Retreat this month from Friday January 27th – Saturday the 28th. Our retreat will be on our campus at West Jackson and include great teaching from Lisa Clements, author and Bible teacher, as well as time to spend together and enjoy special New Year’s themed activities. Women can register online today or stop by the Connection Center tonight or on Sundays.

Family Night @ The Courts

Mark your calendars now for Family Night @ The Courts on Sunday February 5th when we will enjoy a church-wide chili cook off as well as watch football and more as a church. Kids will be able to play in the Courts. More details coming soon!

Date Night @ Grant Center (Union University)

Last year’s Date Night @ Snyder Barn was a wonderful time of good food and fun to encourage married couples at the conclusion of our Unexpected Marriage sermon series. This year, we will be hosting another Date Night (with childcare provided) on February 11th at Union University’s Grant Center. Look for more information, including an opportunity to buy tickets, in the next few weeks.

Pray for All Star Basketball

All Star Basketball practices began in December, and this year we have 400+ children from our church and the Jackson area involved! More than 80 coaches will be leading our 40 teams each week in practice, developing relationships, and bringing the Gospel to them through devotionals. Please be praying for this season and the outreach that will happen through All Star Basketball. Games will begin next Thursday, January 12th at the Courts. E-mail Chuck Rhea today to learn more and help with All Star Basketball this season.
